Jeff Blue is a multi-platinum music producer, A&R Executive and songwriter who is currently signed to BMG Chrysalis Music Publishing. He is also the CEO of Jeff Blue Music. He has discovered, developed and produced some of the biggest names in the music industry.
He has been in the entertainment industry for more than twenty-five years. His first break came in 1988 when he starred in several TV commercials, and interned for future TMZ host Harvey Levin, who at the time was the legal reporter at KCBS TV in Los Angeles. He graduated from UCLA a year later with a degree in communications. From there, the ambitious young man entered Loyola Law School, and received his law degree in 1992. He passed the California Bar the same year. In between, he starred in a commercial for Pepsi-Cola with supermodel and actress Cindy Crawford.
Also in 1992, Jeff Blue began working as a music journalist. A year later he launched Crossroads Magazine, and eventually wrote for Billboard, Entertainment Weekly, and other publications, producing work about unsigned artists. He had a knack for recognizing unsigned talent, and soon began working as an A&R Exec, finding and developing new artists. Through 1997 to 2000, he signed and developed multi-platinum rock bands Linkin Park, Macy Gray, Korn and Limp Bizkit, among other major acts.
In 2000, after four years of development and over 44 showcases, Jeff Blue brought Linkin Park to Warner Bros, signing and executive producing their worldwide record breaking album, “Hybrid Theory”, which garnered countless awards and accolades. Through his three year tenure at Warner Bros, he also signed famed Guns N’ Roses guitarist DJ Ashba, Daniel Powter, who penned the #1 worldwide hit “Had A Bad Day”, and executive produced the multiplatinum soundtrack to the Aaliyah movie, “Queen of the Damned.”
Jeff Blue has climbed steadily higher in the industry as Sr. VP, A&R and Staff Producer for Interscope Records and RCA Records with current Apple Executive Jimmy Iovine, as well as legendary music mogul Clive Davis. Blue then moved to Virgin Records, where he signed, A&R’d, co-wrote, produced and performed on his worldwide award-winning smash hit, “Pictures of You” by The Last Goodnight. In 2009 “Pictures of You” earned Blue a BMI Award for most played song of the year. He wrote and produced hit records for such artists as Better Than Ezra and Hoobastank, to name a few. He began doing A&R for labels such as Jive and Atlantic Records, where he developed artists through his own imprint, signing and developing the Nebraska band Emphatic to Atlantic, Dallas band Shoreline’s End to Island Def Jam, W.E.R.M to Universal Republic, and writing with multi-platinum artists such as Neon Trees and country band Parmalee. More recently, he signed the all-girl Swedish band Riot Child to his joint venture with BMG Chrysalis Publishing. Now he is branching out into the visual arts, teaming with famed interior designer Rick Laborico to form Rock Shop Art, using mixed media to create modern visions.
